Screening in the Colombian Andes

Reaching the most remote communities often requires more than just determination; it requires technology that can withstand the journey. In a recent mission of the NGO Good Vision Colombia, our screening technology was put to the ultimate endurance test.

Located 170 kilometers north of Bogota, the village of Turtur Coper is tucked away behind a winding, rocky mountain road. To provide essential eye care for those living here, the team of Good Vision had to navigate:

  • Rugged Terrain: Tropical landscapes, waterfalls, and river crossings.
  • Extreme Conditions: Difficult roads where stones often had to be placed under wheels to prevent vehicles from getting stuck.
  • Remote Settings: Areas where most residents have never had an eye test.

Why is 2WIN-S Kaleidos the Professional’s Choice?

In these far-flung locations, traditional bulky equipment is not an option. The mission highlighted why the 2WIN-S Kaleidos is the gold standard for portable screening:

  • True Portability: Designed for the most remote areas, it allows practitioners to bring a full-scale “Unidad Móvil de Salud Visual” (Mobile Visual Health Unit) to villages that are otherwise inaccessible.
  • Light Independence: Whether in the bright tropical sun or inside makeshift clinics, the device provides measurements regardless of ambient light conditions.
  • Instant Results: In a single day of work, the team can examine an entire village and provide glasses on the spot, ensuring no patient is left behind.

This further reinforces our primary goal, which is to develop portable, user-friendly devices and ensure that life-changing vision care reaches every individual, even in the most remote and underserved corners of the world.

We are proud to cooperate with the NGO GoodVision to bring these vital services to those in need, and we would like to thank Antje Christ for taking the wonderful pictures shared from the field.
